December Web Series Feature Partners in Liberia and Friends in California

December 19, 2011

This month’s Power of Partnerships highlights the efforts of the Episcopal Diocese of Liberia to provide relief supplies in a refugee camp for displaced residents of neighboring Côte d’Ivoire. Among the most pressing needs were mattresses for expectant and breastfeeding mothers, to protect them from the cold mud floors of the tents and help ward off respiratory infections. The Rt. Rev. Jonathan B. B. Hart was present at the distribution, which provided relief supplies to displaced families living in the camp.

December’s Friends of Episcopal Relief & Development celebrates the generosity of Californian Ken Adams, 98 years young, who donated matching funds to support water system development through the Anglican Development Services of Nyanza in Kenya. As a result of Ken’s gift, women and girls in drought-stricken Nyanza Province no longer have to make long, hazardous journeys to find water, or put themselves at risk of water-borne illnesses due to drinking from unsafe sources.
