Social Media Community Guidelines
We use the Episcopal Relief & Development social media channels to foster connection and provide insights around our work with communities impacted by injustice, poverty, disaster and climate change.
We value open, kind and courteous dialogue, and reserve the right to delete comments or block users that do not align with our guidelines, listed below.
Be Kind and Courteous
Many people come to our social media pages while in the midst of a disaster or crisis, when emotions are high and capacity is low. We encourage respectful discussions and comments. Please keep your conversations focused on the topic, not other individuals.
Refrain from Hate Speech and Bullying
Harassing and bullying will not be tolerated. Disparaging comments about race, religion, culture, nationality, sexual orientation, gender, identity, appearance or ability will not be allowed.
Stay on Topic
We share posts in line with our community’s values and our programmatic priorities–Early Childhood Development, Women and Girls, Climate Resilience and Disaster Response. We invite you to engage in conversations related to the topic of the post.
No Promotions or Spam
Self-promotion, spam, posts for personal political gain and irrelevant links will not be allowed.
Respect Everyone’s Privacy
Do not share anyone’s personal information.
Join our Community!
By commenting on and sharing our posts, you are a part of our global community of people working together for lasting change. Join us on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
We generally monitor social media channels between 8 am – 8 pm ET Monday – Friday. During an active disaster or crisis, we extend our monitoring to weekends.
We update these guidelines regularly.
