Women lead much of E-CARE’s work. They make up the majority of participants in both R2G and the new Enabling Recovery, Enhancing Resilience (ER2) programs. Women gain leadership roles, start businesses and increase household income. Power dynamics within households are based on the generation and control of family income, so E-CARE is helping shift that dynamic.
Many R2G grants support natural and organic farming, which reduces chemical use and helps farmers adapt to climate change. These practices improve food security, protect the environment and open new markets for organic products. E-CARE supports food processing and marketing to grow local businesses.
We work with E-CARE in the aftermath of disasters to expand agricultural programs, provide emergency food aid and help communities recover. Through the Partners in Resilience and Response (PiRR) initiative, they work with other Anglican partners to strengthen disaster preparedness.
