Episcopal Relief & Development Expands Engagement Team to Reach Wider Audiences

June 24, 2013

Episcopal Relief & Development is broadening its outreach, with resources and opportunities that promote spiritual growth and support action for global mission.

To guide these efforts, Episcopal Relief & Development has hired Sean McConnell as Director of Engagement. McConnell officially joined the organization in this role on May 13, after six years as Director of Communications for the Episcopal Diocese of California.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome Sean McConnell to Episcopal Relief & Development as our new Director of Engagement,” said Rob Radtke, the organization’s President.  “Sean’s extensive experience in media and outreach will be a great blessing to this agency, helping us to engage Episcopalians and friends in church settings and throughout the wider community.  I am excited to work with him in creating opportunities for greater enrichment and deeper faith formation through connecting to our work in the US and around the world.”

As Director of Engagement, McConnell plays a key role in furthering Episcopal Relief & Development’s strategic plan for 2013-2016 and bringing members and friends of the Episcopal Church into greater involvement with the organization’s work.  His responsibilities include leading the development and promotion of congregation-focused programs and resources, and guiding the planning process for the agency’s 75th Anniversary Celebration.

“This is an exciting time to be joining Episcopal Relief & Development’s team of passionate professionals,” McConnell said, “especially with a new strategic plan to guide our steps and the 75th Anniversary Celebration to look forward to.  I am grateful to my predecessor, Brian Sellers-Petersen [former Director of Church Engagement, now serving as Senior Advisor to the President], for his inestimable work in raising the profile of the organization, and I look forward to working with the Engagement team to deepen our connections with congregations, dioceses and groups throughout the Church.”
