2011 Lenten Devotional Available for Order through Episcopal Media Cente

January 26, 2011

Episcopal Relief & Development is pleased to announce the publication of its 2011 Lenten Meditations booklet. Co-authored by a group of leaders from across the Episcopal Church, the devotional offers insights on the daily lectionary readings and how we might apply them to our lives as we face a world in need.

“We are extremely grateful to our 2011 Lenten Meditations contributors for their time and effort,” said Brian Sellers-Petersen, Director of Church Engagement at Episcopal Relief & Development. “These writers provide a range of perspectives in the Lenten reflections, and we hope their words will inspire and encourage readers during this season of contemplation.”

The devotional booklet and additional Lenten materials can be ordered from the Episcopal Media Center (EMC) at 1.866.937.2772, online at the Episcopal Marketplace or by email at sales@episcopalmedia.org. Orders should be placed by Monday, February 28, to ensure delivery by Ash Wednesday, March 9.

Downloadable Spanish and English versions of the devotional are available on the agency’s Lenten Resources web page at https://www.episcopalrelief.org/Lent. Readers can also sign up to receive the daily meditations by email.

At the 2009 General Convention, Lent was officially designated as a time to encourage all Episcopalians to remember and support Episcopal Relief & Development’s life-saving work. Dioceses, congregations and individuals are invited to observe Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday on March 13 or another convenient Sunday during the season.

“This Lent, we ask Episcopalians to join us in praying for our sisters and brothers around the world who are suffering,” Sellers-Petersen said. “Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday also provides a tangible way to make a difference through a special offering or gift to support those in need.”

Additional resources for Lent and for Episcopal Relief & Development Sunday, including a bulletin insert, sermon notes and special prayers, are available at https://www.episcopalrelief.org/Lent.
