Episcopal Relief & Development announced today that two generous donors have made a Leadership Gift of $250,000 in support of the organization’s transformative work around the world. This gift has been made to inspire others to continue to support Episcopal Relief & Development’s partnerships to create lasting change for women, children and communities.

“The COVID-19 Pandemic is making the work of Episcopal Relief & Development even more critical,” said Betsy Deisroth, Vice President, Advancement, Episcopal Relief & Development. “At the same time as our local partners have stepped up to add health and safety information, we can also see how vital our work on livelihoods and food security is essential for the children, women and families we reach.”

The economic hardships caused by COVID-19 are having a significant and immediate impact not only in the United States but also in many of the places where Episcopal Relief & Development works worldwide. The organization is collaborating with partners to identify income-generating activities that allow for physical distancing and contribute to health and safety needs across the globe. Staff continue to work with partners to adapt existing programming to reduce the potential spread of the coronavirus, while still creating lasting change in the priority areas of Women, Children and Climate.

For example, the organization’s Moments That Matter integrated early childhood development program partnership empowers caregivers to help their children thrive. Partners are now implementing physical distancing practices and other effective strategies to protect everyone’s health and safety while ensuring the program continues to expand.

“Our faith prepares us for difficult times like these, and we will get through them by working together and by caring for each other,” said Rob Radtke, President & CEO, Episcopal Relief & Development. “I am extremely grateful to these generous donors for leading by example in support of Episcopal Relief & Development’s life-changing work.”

Supporters are invited to consider making their own leadership gift to help raise an additional $250,000, which will enable Episcopal Relief & Development to continue empowering vulnerable communities struggling with hunger, poverty, disease and disaster.

The Leadership Gift opportunity began May 26 and will continue throughout June. Donate online or call 1.855.312.4325. Gifts can also be mailed to Episcopal Relief & Development, PO Box 7058, Merrifield, VA 22116-7058.

For over 75 years, Episcopal Relief & Development has been working together with supporters and partners for lasting change around the world. Each year the organization facilitates healthier, more fulfilling lives for more than 3 million people struggling with hunger, poverty, disaster and disease. Inspired by Jesus’ words in Matthew 25, Episcopal Relief & Development leverages the expertise and resources of Anglican and other partners to deliver measurable and sustainable change in three signature program areas: Women, Children and Climate.
